Tax Planning

Whatever your tax status, the team at Hine Downing Financial Services can provide expert advice to suit your circumstances.

Income Tax – Whether you are a non-taxpayer, basic rate taxpayer, higher rate taxpayer or additional rate taxpayer there are ways to save tax by making use of the available allowances and ‘reliefs’, approved by the HMRC.

Capital Gains Tax (CGT) – The ongoing management of your investment policy(ies)/scheme(s) is as important as the initial investment. CGT can erode the investment gain if you do not make use of the available allowances. We therefore provide annual reviews to make sure that your investment portfolio remains as tax efficient as possible and continues to be suitable for your requirements at all times.

Inheritance Tax (IHT) – is a tax levied on transfer of assets to other people, including family member(s) (not spouse) or trusts. It is most commonly paid on death, but lifetime transfers can also be liable depending on the size of the gifts. There are a number of ways to reduce inheritance tax by planning ahead during your lifetime.

Our financial planner will provide advice on the suitability of making use of tax efficient investments schemes, trusts or the arranging of a life assurance policy to cover any IHT liability on death. This maybe in conjunction with your legal adviser or accountant. HMRC gifting rules amongst other allowances can provide relief to families that have an exposure to an inheritance tax liability. Through structured financial planning your beneficiaries do not have to forego their inheritance simply to pay tax. Regrettably this situation happens far too often, when it is too late to undertake any meaningful planning.
